Palio Città della Quercia 2025 will take place on Monday, June 2

Press Release #1

A new date for the Palio Città della Quercia 2025, now set for Monday, June 2, coinciding with Italy’s Republic Day. This marks a shift from its usual late-summer schedule, prompted by the World Championships in Tokyo (September 13–21, 2025) which caused many events to be rescheduled.

Carlo Giordani, president of U.S. Quercia Dao Conad, explained: “With the World Championships at the end of the season, it became nearly impossible to hold the event in late August or early September. Moving it earlier offers a chance to try alternative solutions and introduce new features.”

This follows innovations from the 2024 edition, including a men’s pole vault event held inside the iconic dome of the Mart Museum in Rovereto, which drew significant media and public acclaim.

The 2024 Palio Città della Quercia was ranked the second most important Italian athletics event (after Rome’s Golden Gala) and placed 23rd in Europe and 34th globally according to World Athletics. With over 32 million viewers worldwide, thanks to RaiSport and SportFive’s coverage, it continues to grow in prestige.

Organized entirely by volunteers, the event complements the daily training and competitions of the Us Quercia Dao Conad club, which remains one of the few Italian teams to qualify for all categories in the national finals of the Italian Athletics Championships.
